Blog Post #4 Due Monday, October 6
Dear Students,
Your next blog post will serve 2 purposes: (1) It will be a topic ( or topics) that you have chosen; and (2) It will help prepare you for your Essay #2, which will be to write a summary.
If you look in your textbook at Part 3, Unit 3, you will see a unit on how to write a summary. As a warm-up on page 116 , they suggest talking/writing about (1) The last movie you saw, or your favorite movie; or (2) The last book you read or your favorite book; or (3) The last television show you watched or your favorite television show.
So, I thought that this would be a nice topic choice for our next blog. Please choose one of the 3 above and write a paragraph. Then, don't forget to react to each other's postings.

"Break up the master" is a new Chinese comedy movie in 2014.In the movie,the master helps famous persons break up with their girlfriends.The master makes various ways to solve their problems.However,the last issue is fail.Because between him and the female leading of role have gone through a lot of things that are facetious and dangerous.Finally,he falls in loves with the female.And he gives up helping others break up,he becomes a Make up The Master.

ReplyDeleteThis film was in theaters since Dec 25, 2007. True story of a temperamental debate in small black school in Texas. They want to win in national championship. Henry Lowe played by Nate Parker, he drink a lot but he intelligent. Hamilton Burgess played by Jermaine Williams, which was super debater. Samantha Booke played by Jurnee Smollett, the only female in this debater team. Melvin Tolson played by Denzel Washington, he is a professor also he drives his team until last moment he out of town this debate. Did they give up or complete. What they did whit Henry because he drink a lot…..
In my opinion, even though I am not a big fan with movies but this movie was unbelievable. First thing, talk about the debate between white and black school. Second thing, can touch your emotion also you know what the way for great debate is. How difficult is it. This movie can till the people how much the education is important in our life regardless about the opportunity to find a job.
I really identified with Tolson. I give my team an opportunity an I give them responsibility to do most of work but after they leave the office I check the work, to give them more confidants.
The Great Debater, what to people remember or know what this people did in 1930s. Also it’s a great time for show how does the education important because most of students think it does not necessary now.

I thought I had replied to this! i was saying that I am interested in this movie (1) because I am a Texan, and also (2) because we have been talking and reading a lot about racial relations in the U.S. in my Online News class. I wish I could have shown them this movie and seen it myself. A question: what is "a tempramental debate"?

“Line Walker” is a Hong Kong teleplay which I watched it recently. This teleplay is focused on police undercovers' life of struggle that are live on the gray area. It said because of the force at the top of mysterious death，five undercovers have been missing.At that time，they know the force has the “black police”who is the worked for the gangsterdom. So the undercovers are very dangerous. Because they cannot tell others what they are doing, who are they. Everyone are misunderstand them. With the time went by, many people were killed by the gangsterdom. Unfortunately some of the undercovers are deteriorate. Therefore, the action becomes more difficult. However, rest of the undercovers never give up, finally they grab criminal who is the top of the gangsterdom. I like this kind of teleplay because it is more irritanted when I was watching.And this teleplay can let me think about how the story happened. It makes me want to see it.
ReplyDeleteSharon, this sounds interesting. What is a teleplay? A play on TV? Also, it sounds like this is a mystery story. I love mysteries too, both to read and to watch.

Well, recently I read a very interesting book called The Chronicles of Narnia. The book has seven different histories about this land known as Narnia. The first one tells how the land was borned and the others six histories tells how humans found and lived in this land during several years without coming home, fighting wars and saving lives. The book has a lot of adventures and a little bit of comedy. It's a great reading, but if you don't like to read some of the histories already has a movie version.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just lost my comment on this. I was saying that the Chronicles of Narnia are very famous, but I have never read or seen them. Is C. S. Lewis the author?
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "history," I think you mean "story." It is so hard to explain the dfference in English! I have a lesson on that somewhere which I will try to find.

Yes, he is the author but I confess that I don't know too much about him. I started to read the book because I watched the movies and I wanted know more details about the stories. So I bought the book and read the seven stories in one month.

Recently I saw a delightful movie by Woody Allen called "Magic in the Moonlight." It's the story of a magician who really doesn't believe in magic, who meets a woman who is a psychic. That is, she claims to be able to predict the future and communicate with the dead. The magician, played by Colin Furth, thinks the woman is a fake. She admits that she really is a fake, but he falls in love with her anyway! I recommend this movie, if you can find it.
Giulia, I have found my lesson on "history" vs. "story," and will bring it to class on Wednesday for everyone
