Blog Post #4   Due Monday, October 6

Dear Students,

Your next blog post will serve 2 purposes: (1) It will be a topic ( or topics) that you have chosen; and (2) It will help prepare you for your Essay #2, which will be to write a summary.

If you look in your textbook at Part 3, Unit 3, you will see a unit on how to write a summary. As a warm-up on page 116 , they suggest talking/writing about (1) The last movie you saw, or your favorite movie; or (2) The last book you read or your favorite book; or (3) The last television show you watched or your favorite television show.

So, I thought that this would be a nice topic choice for our next blog. Please choose one of the 3 above and write a paragraph. Then, don't forget to react to each other's postings.

Blog Post #3: Due Monday, September 29

Dear Students: At your request, your next blog post will be about exercise and health. This is one of my favorite topics too. Please talk about this topic, and use these questions as a guide:

1. What do you do to stay healthy?
2. Do you eat healthy foods? If so, what kinds?
3. Do you  exercise? Do you enjoy exercising?
4. What kind (s) of exercise do you do?

Dear students,

First of all, thank you all for your interesting postings on Blog #1. Be sure to respond to the questions I have asked.

Your second blog post will be on a lighter topic: food and restaurants. Write a paragraph using any or all of the following questions:

1. What is your favorite food?
2. Would you prefer to eat it in a restaurant or make it yourself?
3.Write a review of one of your favorite restaurants either here in New York or in some other place.
What type of food did they serve? Did you like it? Why or why not?

Here is your first assignment, due before class on Monday, September 15:

In class you read Diana's memoir of her experiences on September 11, 2001. In response, please:

1. React to Diana's memoir with one sentence that is either a statement or a question.

2. Then write a paragraph of about 10 sentences about (1) how people in your country reacted to 9/11
OR (2) Your personal experience with a crises, disaster or scary situation.
